- Loss of income: any income disruption can create a housing crisis, such as, unemployment, divorce, medical issues, etc.
- Unaffordable housing: increased building costs, taxes and utilities have reduced the availability of affordable housing.
- Domestic violence: victims of domestic violence many times have to leave their home with no possessions.

- Over 1 million people are homeless in the United States.
- Over 75,000 people are homeless in Florida.
- Over 10,000 people are homeless in Central Florida.
Over 2300 students in Lake County are reported homeless. (May 2011)
Some people mistakenly think that homelessness is a lifestyle choice. The reality is that homelessness is primarily the result of unforeseen problems. It has been reported that 90% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and are only two paychecks away from being homeless. 80% of New Beginnings residents successfully graduate from the program and leave with a job and affordable housing. 96% of all donations are used for programs per audited financial statements. New Beginnings is serving those who want to recover and transition back into the work force.
