Our History

New Beginnings Lake, Inc (NB) was incorporated May, 2007, as a non-profit transition housing program for homeless in southern Lake County. NB provides a nine-month work/study training program designed to provide counseling for the homeless to regain self esteem and recover from any addictions.

The work training is to provide controlled and steady employment while they are retrained for a new career. Many homeless people in this county have worked for years in the construction industry. The fluctuating economy has been the cause of many lay-offs. Thus many are now unemployed, without unemployment benefits, and unable to find work in the construction industry. NB has a state certified job trainer thru Building Blocks, Inc. who not only teaches the individual how to apply for a job and retain a job, but they are being retrained for an industry that has demand for employees. |

While the client is learning job skills, they need part-time work to cover their expenses and regain self-esteem. NB has filed a DBA with the State of Florida to create the Weeds to Go program. Services include pulling weeds, removing Spanish moss from trees, trimming bushes, mulching, and general yard clean up. NB will soon be launching some other businesses that offer the homeless work: an Ebay store and a tee shirt sales business.

In summary, our hope is to transition the homeless back into the workforce and take them off welfare. We are providing the training and have work available and seeking more financial support to open two more facilities for homeless families. |
